Frequently Asked Questions
|
How can I copy web site to CD?
To copy website to CD please do the following:
- Create a new project by accepting all wizard default setting, specify the site URL.
- Start the download.
- Let the program complete the download and update the links.
- Browse the downloaded files to make sure that WebCopier copied all the files you need.
Now you can use "File / Copy Project" wizard
- It can copy all required files directly to CD (requires DirectCD to be installed).
- If you don't have DirectCD you can use the wizard to copy ALL (project and
downloaded from the site) files to a temporary directory on your hard drive. Then you can
use your CD burner software (like Easy CD Creator) and copy all the files from the temporary
directory to the CD.
I can't download any website using WebCopier. What can be wrong?
Most likely, it's happening because of incorrect Internet connection
parameters in "WebCopier Options / Connection" window.
Please, double check your settings. If you are connected to the Internet through a proxy server or firewall,
you need to enter its parameters in the "WebCopier Options / Connection / Proxy Server" window.
If it doesn't help, please manually connect to the Internet before starting WebCopier project download.
WebCopier shows high CPU usage after a while. How can I reduce it?
The "Download Info" window has a slide bar. Please move it to the left to reduce CPU usage by WebCopier.
Is it possible to download all the files of one site into just one directory?
Yes, you just need to change the "Directory structure" option to "One directory"
("Project Settings / Advanced / Other" window).
I would like to print our entire web site. Can I do this with WebCopier?
Yes, WebCopier can do it.
To print all website pages:
- Download the website by WebCopier.
- Select the first (topmost) node on the Contents Tree.
- Use the "File / Print Folder" menu to print whole site.
Please keep in mind that printing big websites at once can be a very time- and
resource-consuming task. WebCopier has to go through all downloaded HTML files and modify
them to provide one-click-printing.
Sometimes it's better to print a web site branch by branch.
- Find the starting folder (HTML) file of a branch and use the "Print Folder" menu.
- Repeat the procedure for other branches.
To print the website structure:
- Use "File / Print Contents" menu.
I'm trying to download a website and get a notice telling me that the site is
protected against accelerated browser such as WebCopier. What can be done about that?
To slow-down WebCopier please do the following:
- Open "Project Settings" window.
- Change the value of "Number of files to download simultaneously" parameter to 1 ("Project Settings / Download" window).
- Set the "Pause" parameter to 5 sec. ("Project Settings / Advanced / Other" window).
You may need to adjust this value in order to reach best performance and comply with the bandwidth restrictions.
