QuoteReplyTopic: Downloading websites selectively Posted: November 17 2010 at 7:16pm
Hi,
I find it annoying to download a website at more than 1 level. Would it be possible to add a feature whereby you could download the site at 1 level, and then selectively add the links you need from deeper levels to that download? Or would it be possible to see a kind of map of all the links to be downloaded at say, two levels, and then just tell the program which ones to follow and which to skip? That way you could really save time and just quickly get what you need rather than waiting for hours as the program downloads 5000 links. What if You only need one link on that second level? It makes the time it takes to download not really worth the effort.
Thanks for a great program anyway. Isaveweb pro speed improvements are excellent.
All features that you are asking about are already available... in WebCopier Pro, available for Windows and Mac.
You can use WebCopier Pro to do selective downloads, and then upload downloaded sites directly to iSaveWeb.
At this moment, we think that such 'selective downloads' are beyond iPhone/iPad capabillities ,mostly because of UI and battery life.
With the ipad, leaving it on to download 5000 links when you're only interest in 20 of those links is surely going to impact the battery life more than if there was some way just to specify where you wanted the program to go. Even just the feature of adding single pages manually to an already downloaded site would be useful. Surely thats not beyond the UI of the ipad?
